Geologists wonder how the Earth (and other planetary bodies) works and evolves through time. My research focuses on subduction zone tectonics where oceanic lithosphere sinks and recycles deep into the mantle. I study HP/LT (high pressure/low temperature) metamorphic rocks formed in such tectonic environments. By investigating these rocks, I aimed to understand the chemical and the physical/structural processes that operate in the Earth and shape it.
